Across the global research landscape, women continue to remain significantly underrepresented. Although women constitute a substantial proportion of the world’s research community, persistent disparities remain in research participation, publication, recognition, remuneration, leadership, and access to opportunities. Addressing these challenges requires more than acknowledging the numbers—it calls for a deeper understanding of the qualitative, structural, institutional, and societal factors that continue to shape women’s journeys in research and impede their advancement.

Convened by the Centre for Women Development, AWM serves as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and progressive action, creating greater awareness of the extraordinary potential of women’s intellectual contribution and leadership. The Meet seeks to promote the greater integration, participation, recognition, and advancement of women across Science, Technology, Research, Innovation, and allied disciplines, while fostering an environment founded upon excellence, equality, collaboration, and opportunity.

The AWM stands for a stronger and more inclusive research ecosystem—one in which women are empowered not merely to participate, but to lead, influence, innovate, and shape the future. The advancement of women is strengthened when women advocate for, mentor, support, and elevate one another across disciplines and generations.
